The annual start to the academic year, known as Convocation, is on September 1. This year we are developing a video to play during the event that celebrates you! Please take a 10-second video of you offering your first name and “Hello” in whatever way you want: in a favorite place, with a special person, wearing a beloved t-shirt, with a family or community member or pet. So you might say: “Hello Harvard, my name is John!” If the video format isn’t possible, write your message on a piece of paper and send a still photograph of you holding it.
Through the Common Reading, you'll participate in an introduction to Harvard academics. You may choose from one of four books on climate change. Two of the titles are available to download for free through Harvard Library, and all titles shoud be easily available in libraries or for purchase online. Assistance is also available if you have difficulty procuring a copy. You can also view reading guides to prepare for the discussion during Orientation.
