**BEFORE ARRIVAL**

## Complete Pre-Arrival Testing

**IMPORTANT:** **We encourage everyone to test before arriving on campus.** Rapid home antigen tests are [widely available](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing/self-testing.html) in local pharmacies, and insurance generally covers the cost.

### Step 1: Test before you depart to travel to campus.

**Take whatever test is available where you are.**

- You can [find a list of testing locations near you](https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/community-based-testing-sites/index.html) on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website.
- Rapid home antigen tests are [widely available](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing/self-testing.html) in local pharmacies, and insurance generally covers the cost.
- If you are coming from outside of the U.S. and need help accessing testing, please contact your local health department.

### Step 2: Take action based on your test results.

**If positive, isolate at home and report your results to HUHS via** [**Crimson Clear**](https://crimsonclear.harvard.edu/)**.**

- Do not return to campus until discharged from isolation by HUHS contact tracers.
- You should expect to hear from the HUHS Contact Tracing Team within two to three days of reporting your positive test result.
- If you received a positive result greater than five days ago, pending resolving symptoms and no fever for 24 hours, you are authorized to return to campus. You should also email your [Resident Dean of First-Year Students](/people/role/resident-deans-first-year-students) or [Allston Burr Resident Dean](/people/people-type/resident-deans) to let them know about your change in plans.

**If negative, keep your travel plans.**

- You do not need to report your results via Crimson Clear or to HUHS if you test negative.

### Step 3: Prepare an isolation comfort kit to bring with you or plan to purchase these items on your way to campus.

**Suggested items include:**

- acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil)
- Thermometer
- Snacks
- Any prescription medication you might need
- Personal care items (cough drops, contact lens fluid, tissues) etc.

**UPON ARRIVAL**

## Follow Post-Arrival Guidelines

### Step 1: Test upon arrival to campus.

Upon arrival to campus, take your **rapid antigen test** (provided to you when you pick up your key).

- If you have a **negative** antigen test, you may participate in any programs, like orientation, classes, trainings, etc.
- If you test **positive** on the antigen test, follow the COVID-19 [Isolation Protocol](/isolation-quarantine-policies).

### Step 2: Take precautions to avoid spreading or catching the virus.

- Follow University guidance regarding masking. Masks are available from your [building manager](/building-manager-directory) or [Yard Ops](https://yardops.fas.harvard.edu/) (for Dudley Community and first-year students).
- All students will have access to appropriate supplies for cleaning bathrooms. If you are responsible for cleaning your bathroom, review the [bathroom cleaning guide](https://projects.iq.harvard.edu/files/yardops/files/bathroom_cleaning.pdf).
- Test if advised to do so by HUHS or if you are symptomatic.
