Catherine Shapiro, Ph.D
Interim Resident Dean of Leverett House
I was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Texas, although happily transplanted to the East Coast for the past twenty-five years. I was a political science and economics double major at Rice, and got my PhD in political science at Stanford. Along the way, I interned for two members of Congress, worked at OEF International, and consulted for Emily's List. I happily serves as a Resident Scholar at Mather House, along with my son Robert, two noisy but super friendly dogs, and two ginormous cats.
For almost ten years, I was in the Government Department at Dartmouth College, teaching courses including Congress and Leadership in Politics. I was Allston Burr Resident Dean at Leverett House (2001-2007) and Assistant Dean for Residential Life. I also served as Chief of Staff for President McAuliffe at Bryn Mawr College, before returning to Harvard as the Resident Dean of Freshmen for Crimson Yard. Currently I serve as the Senior Resident Dean for the College and Co-Director of the College’s Local Emergency Management Team.
