Charnele Luster

Director of Residential Programs
Charnele Luster

Joining the Harvard family in November 2020, I am newly responsible for working within the DSO Residential Life unit to independently assess the needs of the student body and to develop and organize educational, social and cultural activities in partnership with the Houses, the First-Year Experience Office, the First-Year Social Committee, House Committees, and other crucial partners.

My background includes experience in working with students and residential life communities, with eight years of higher education experience at a variety of residential life positions at King University, St. Lawrence University and Salem State University. After earning my Bachelors of Science in architecture with a concentration in visual arts from Roger Williams University, I received a Masters of Education in educational leadership from St. Lawrence University.

Most recently, I served as the Associate Director of Residential Education at Salem State University where I led training programs for 2,000+ residential students and staff, developed diversity, equity and inclusion workshops, and implemented a 360° evaluation for student staff to measure and direct onboarding and training programs. In this position, I also reimagined departmental curriculum, developed implementation strategies for residential students to align with division-wide programming and coaching initiatives to increase student engagement.
