Hi everyone! My name is Emerson Utgaard, and I’m a first-year from San Diego, California. Although that name makes me sound like a Viking, I’m actually half Mexican and half Norwegian. I’m currently living in Canaday, and plan to double concentrate in Bioengineering and Romance Languages & Lit. In addition to FYSC, I’m a member of the Latina Empowerment and Development Conference (LEAD), Pediatric Cancer Buddies, and Women In Science at Harvard-Radcliffe (WISHR). In my free time, I love going for long runs, dancing, and belting Taylor Swift (sometimes all at the same time). I also love all things fantasy and sci-fi–if a story has dinosaurs, vampires, faeries, or aliens, chances are I’ll love it. I joined FYSC because I wanted to plan events for our class to build freshmen community and bring us closer together. Feel free to reach out or say hi if you see me!
