Eric Beerbohm is Professor of Government and Faculty Affiliate in the Department of Philosophy. He serves as Chair of the Committee on Degrees in Social Studies and Faculty Dean at Quincy House. His philosophical and teaching interests include democratic theory, political ethics, theories of social equality, and the philosophy of social science. His latest book, Gaslighting Citizens, examines how politicians can lead citizens to hold beliefs disconnected from the available evidence, and concludes that this form of manipulation raises distinctively democratic worries.

Coach Tommy Amaker

Tommy Amaker is the Thomas G. Stemberg ’71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men’s Basketball. Coach Amaker has led the Harvard program to the most successful 15-year stretch in Ivy League history, also making him the all-time winningest coach in program history. His accomplishments include guiding the team to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, seven Ivy League Championships, three NIT appearances, and six 20-win seasons. Coach Amaker serves as an executive fellow at Harvard Business School and as a special assistant to Harvard President Larry Bacow. He is a member of the Board of Overseers for the Boys and Girls Club of Boston.

What to Expect
The Uncommon Fare Program is only for first-year students, with each event limited to 10 students so that you can participate in the discussion and ask the questions that are on your mind. Students who attend will have the opportunity to meet outstanding members of the Harvard community over dinner at the Faculty Club. 
  • The dinner begins at 6:00pm and runs until 8:00pm (students should stay for the entire duration of the program)
  • Suggested dress for dinner is business casual or an outfit that reflects your cultural heritage
