Hello, Cabotians! I am Ken and I am eager and excited to be a part of this community as your Cabot House Dean. In this role, I am responsible for supporting your academic and personal well-being during your time at Harvard. I’m here to help you think through issues, ideas, and questions that are important to you as you make decisions about your education - present and future. Please feel free to come and talk to me about anything that is on your mind – for example, questions or concerns relating to your courses, health and wellness, relationships, future plans, College policies, your general experience here, etc. – the list goes on. In addition to thinking through things with you, I represent Cabot students on the College Ad Board and I help you with any petitions or requests that you file and I can help you connect with the tremendous people and resources in our community – at Cabot and across the College as a whole. So, come say hello if you see me in the dining hall or on campus, or come by my office (Entryway A) for a chat. Nothing is too big or small to come see me about - you're welcome to make an appointment or just drop by.

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago (raised in Siparia, Trinidad) and went to the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad where I studied chemical and process engineering. I went on to complete a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of the West Indies in 2006 before moving directly on to my doctorate. I completed my PhD in 2010 from the University of South Florida in civil engineering (water resources and engineering focus), where I concentrated in environmental engineering and water resources. My dissertation is entitled "Ecotourism and Water Quality: Linking Management, Activities and Sustainability Indicators in the Caribbean." As you may imagine from my dissertation title, I am passionate about sustainability and more so the practice of sustainable actions - across all the sustainability pillars - in our daily lives. This includes recycling, shopping at vintage, consignment, and thrift stores, as well as doing community service work that helps to improve and sustain the lives of others.

This is my first year in this role and at Harvard. I look forward to learning from and with you but rest assured that my many years of experience working in similar roles at two other higher education institutions will allow me to help you navigate undergraduate life here at the College, and the variety of experiences, challenges, and successes students encounter. Two of the identities that I carry are being a first-generation college student as well as being an international student. I look forward to sharing more of myself with each of you as we get to know each other. I value the opportunity to get to know each one of you and the unique stories you carry with you as part of your lived experiences and the ones you will create while you are students here.
