Harvard is committed to providing all students with access to health resources and wellness programs to support their holistic health and wellbeing

Harvard University Health Services (HUHS)

Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) provides currently enrolled students with high-quality care with skilled clinicians and counselors, as well as wellness programming. Most HUHS services are available with no copayment.

Appointments: You can schedule appointments through the HUHS Patient Portal or by calling 617-495-5711.

Location: Smith Campus Center (3rd Floor) at the 75 Mount Auburn Street entrance. Please call 617-495-5711 before walking into HUHS.

 HUHS Urgent Care

HUHS Urgent Care provides advice and treatment for urgent physical health issues that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening emergencies. If an issue seems life-threatening, please call 911 immediately.

Location: Smith Campus Center (3rd Floor) at the 75 Mount Auburn Street entrance. Please call 617-495-5711 before walking into HUHS. Note that this number cannot accept text messages.

If you need temporary or permanent accommodations (academic, housing, transportation, dining) for your urgent care medical issues contact the Disability Access Office (DAO) and your Resident Dean as soon as possible.

Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

CAMHS is a counseling and mental health support service that seeks to work collaboratively with students and the University to support individuals who are experiencing any measure of distress in their lives. This may include:

  • Bereavement
  • Adjustment difficulties
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Concerns interfering with work or relationships
  • Sexual concerns
  • High-risk behaviors around food, alcohol, or other substances

Treatment options include:

  • Individual counseling
  • Medication management
  • Group therapy
  • Peer counseling
  • Workshops

All visits are confidential. Mental health records are held separately from the rest of the medical records, except for information on medications. Counseling and mental health services are also offered at satellite health clinics on the Harvard Law School and Longwood Medical Area campuses.

  • Initial consultation: Schedule a 20-minute initial phone consultation (non-urgent) by logging in to the Patient Portal or by calling 617-495-2042.
  • Routine appointments: During CAMHS business hours, call 617-495-2042 and press 1 (one) to speak directly with a CAMHS administrative assistant to make, change, or cancel a routine appointment

CAMHS CARES - 617-495-2042CAMHS Cares Line

  • The CAMHS Cares Line (617-495-2042) is a 24/7 support line for Harvard students who have mental health concerns, whether you are in immediate distress or not, on-campus or elsewhere. 
  • At all times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, students can follow the prompts to speak directly with a CAMHS Cares Counselor about an urgent concern or if you just need to talk to someone about a difficult challenge or mental health issue. 
  • Have a routine administrative question? During CAMHS business hours, call 617-495-2042 and press 1 (one) to speak directly with a CAMHS administrative assistant to make, change, or cancel a routine appointment, request a refill, or request an in-person urgent care appointment for that day.

CAMHS Urgent Care

  • Appointments: CAMHS offers in-person Urgent Care appointments on business days for significant mental health issues, urgent distress, or crisis situations. Please call 617-495-2042 to schedule an Urgent Care appointment before coming to CAMHS, so that CAMHS may help you reduce time spent in our waiting room and provide support as expeditiously as possible.
  • You can also call a CAMHS Cares clinician (available 24/7) at 617-495-2042 if you are unsure whether an Urgent Care visit is warranted. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or HUPD at 617-495-1212.
