Liliana (Lily) Castro

As the Director of Residential Programs in the Dean of Students Office (DSO), I lead the strategic vision and execution of Harvard College’s residential life initiatives, all designed to foster a sense of belonging and support student success. I collaborate with the First-Year Social Committee, House Committees, faculty, staff, and campus partners to create inclusive and dynamic programming, including initiatives like sophomore orientation, which helps students transition into their second year and integrate into their house communities. Additionally, I am deeply committed to the professional development of residential staff, providing comprehensive training and growth opportunities to enhance leadership and engagement for both staff and student leaders.

Prior to this role, I served as the Director of Orientation and Family Engagement for nearly six years, leading the design, planning, and implementation of Harvard College’s first-year orientation programs and coordinating family engagement efforts. I have also held positions at Loyola University Maryland, the College of the Holy Cross, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. My work is driven by a passion for enhancing the student experience during key transitional periods, ensuring that both students and their families feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the broader campus community.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Counseling & Human Services from the University of Scranton and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. My work is guided by a deep commitment to community, connection, and collective thriving—values that continue to inspire my efforts at Harvard.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring new destinations, binge-watching reality TV, and spending time with friends, family, and my rescue dog, Charlie.
