Thomas Dunne

Dean of Students
Man with gray hair and glasses in a suit standing outside looking at the camera.

As the dean of students, I work with students and colleagues to create a dynamic and enriching undergraduate experience at the College. I joined Harvard in 2023, after serving in similar roles at Princeton University, Cornell University, and Boston College.

I live with my family in Harvard Square, and my wife also works at the University. For a number of years, we lived on boarding school campuses, and our kids are big fans of the dining halls at Harvard-- they've mastered a waffle maker at quite a young age. We are also big Harvard sports fans and love traveling in and around New England. My hobbies are photography, reading, and making it to swim practice pick-up on time.

Students are welcome to reach out to me with any question or concern; one of the aspects of my work that I enjoy most is its connectedness to other parts of the College. If I cannot provide an answer, I am committed to ensure that you get connected to the person or office who can help. We're also interested in hearing ideas from students about how we can improve the experience here on campus- we welcome your create ideas even if you haven't charted a clear path to implementation.

From time to time you may see me walking our French bulldog Arleux in the Square. He's a beloved pet but sadly a sullen and cranky dog. I think it may be misplaced resentment about the mascot adoration from a certain university south of us.
