New Student Communications

Harvard Balloons

Email is the primary communication channel used by Harvard administrators.

Setting Up Your Harvard Email Account

Communications for students will initially be sent to the personal email account you provided to Harvard Admissions, the one you use to access the admitted student portal. Once you have set up your Harvard email account, we will begin communicating through that. Between May 1 and May 31, please check both accounts. We anticipate using only your Harvard email after June 1.

Class Email List

You will automatically be subscribed to your Class email list. You are responsible for reading all messages sent to your Harvard email account and cannot claim ignorance of any information sent over the Class list. Over the summer we recommend that you check your email account weekly as there are many deadlines and opportunities that occur throughout that time. Once the term starts, you should check your Harvard email account daily.

Cancel Email

You retain control over your email account and may unsubscribe from the Class list at any time. If you unsubscribe your Harvard email, we recommend that you subscribe with another email account to stay informed of important information. Your Resident Dean will also be in touch if you unsubscribe to make you aware of the consequences. While we do not recommend that you unsubscribe, a list of emails sent to the class is provided below.

Social Media

Social Media Apps on iPhone by Jeremy Bezanger on UnsplashThere are many ways to engage with the College, including on social! Check out upcoming campus programming, learn more about different students organizations, and get to know other students. You can find Harvard College on Instgram and TikTok. Don’t forget to also follow Dean Khurana on Instagram.

Class of 2026 Facebook Group

A private Facebook group has been established for matriculating students in the Class of 2026. If you're not part of the group, you can request to join by providing your name, high school, and home town. Requests are reviewed regularly and only members of the class are accepted. Unfortunately, parents and other family members may not join.

The group is managed by the First-Year Experience Office in the Harvard College Dean of Students Office. We are not responsible for any unofficial groups, chats, or the content within. As a reminder, Harvard College reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission under various conditions including if an admitted student engages in behavior that brings into question your honesty, maturity or moral character.

We ask that you abide by our community norms and treat each other respectfully, and with the thought and care that we value. You can find more about ours and Harvard’s expectations regarding electronic resources in the College Handbook for Students.

Parent Communications

Email List

You are responsible for providing your family members’ email and mail addresses in the Family Information Form of my.harvard so that family members receive important updates and information regarding family-related programs and events. You can update this information at any time.

Please note that listing family members in my.harvard does not give them permission to view your grades or any other educational records. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects your rights.

Parent and Family Engagement

Within the Dean of Students Office, the Parent and Family Engagement Office supports family members through communications and events.

Parent Facebook Group

Parent-run Facebook groups for families exist to provide community for family members. The groups are neither affiliated with nor administered by Harvard College.
