Bonnie Talbert, Ph.D.
Bonnie Talbert, Ph.D., has over 16 years of experience in teaching, advising, curriculum development, administration, and leadership in higher education, including roles at Harvard University, Columbia University, and Hunter College. Bonnie joined Harvard in 2009 after earning her Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University, and she has consistently emphasized high-impact educational practices that promote deep learning, critical thinking, and a strong sense of community both inside and outside the classroom. During graduate school, she taught in Columbia's Core Curriculum and the Academic Success Program, supporting first-generation, low-income students. At Harvard, Bonnie has served as Associate Director and Lecturer in Social Studies and has designed and taught courses ranging from a First-Year Seminar on friendship, an Engaged Scholarship course on altruism, to a study abroad class on literature and political philosophy in Croatia and Bosnia. She currently serves on Harvard’s Public Service Committee, is a Peace Commissioner for the City of Cambridge, and volunteers with Communities for Restorative Justice.
