Beyond the Yard

The Beyond the Yard program helps first-year students further develop relationships with one another and upper-level students. Secondarily, the program offers the opportunity to travel outside of the Yard or Harvard Square, to expose first-year students to areas they might not visit on their own. Peer Advising Fellows (PAFs) can apply for funds to host Beyond the Yard excursions.

Program Details

  1. Applications are accepted in September and January
  2. Deadlines and the application link will be shared in the PAF newsletter and at Yard meetings
  3. Outings should include 3-10 first-year students, with a ratio of one PAF to 3-5 first-years
  4. Budget for each event is typically $35-40/student

This program is supported through a generous gift from the Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Family Foundation, and administered in partnership between the First-Year Experience Office and the Advising Programs Office. Contact Dean Nekesa Straker to learn more.
