Meaning-Making at Harvard College
Memorial Church at Harvard

At Harvard College, we recognize that faith, ethics, and spirituality shape how we understand ourselves, our communities, and the world around us. The Religion, Ethics, and Spirituality Initiative is a new endeavor designed to foster dialogue, reflection, and exploration at the intersections of belief, moral philosophy, and religious practice.

This initiative builds upon Harvard’s commitment to community, creating space for students from all backgrounds—whether deeply rooted in a religious tradition, exploring ethical frameworks, or seeking meaning beyond conventional boundaries—to engage in thoughtful conversation and collective learning. Through interdisciplinary engagement, interfaith dialogue, and ethical inquiry, we hope to encourage a deeper understanding of ourselves, and ourselves in relation to one another.

As someone who has dedicated my career to fostering inclusive communities, intercultural learning, and spiritual engagement across global higher education spaces, I believe in the transformative power of thoughtful, constructive dialogue. I feel blessed to have created opportunities for students to deepen their knowledge of their own religion or faith tradition, and to have facilitated their exploration of other traditions in meaningful, respectful ways. Through this new initiative, the College seeks to set the conditions for students to find resonance between personal convictions and communal responsibilities, and to cultivate a sense of belonging that is enriched by difference rather than threatened by it.
