Life in the Houses
Life in the Houses is at the heart of the Harvard College experience. Each House is a close-knit community where students live, gather, celebrate traditions, and build lasting friendships.
What makes a House feel like home is the people within it —Faculty Deans, Resident Deans, House Administrators, tutors, staff, and, most importantly, the House Committees who shape the spirit and daily life of the community. Together, they create spaces for connection, celebration, and support throughout the year.

Introducing Housing Day Spirit Week
In an effort to support Housing Day and promote the excitement of residential placement among first-year students, the Dean of Students Office has worked with residential staff, House Committees, and student groups to expand the activities around Housing Day. Housing Day Spirit Week will kick off with a first-year enhanced brain break on Wednesday, March 25, and will conclude with the Johnnies on Saturday, March 28.
Dorm Days Remembered
A special Housing Day Enhanced Brain Break will take place on Wednesday, March 25 in Annenberg Dining Hall at 9 PM. The brain break aims to create a meaningful moment for first-year students to honor their dorm communities before transitioning into their new House identities.
Housing Day Eve
Housing Day Eve provides a high-energy, community-focused celebration that brings students together on the night before Housing Day.
Housing Day Festivities
Through spirited House pride, meaningful connections with House staff and HoCos, special swag, and the opportunity to celebrate in their new House provides a magical introduction and a warm hand-off into the next chapter of their Harvard experience.
The Johnnies
The Johnnies is an award show coordinated with the Crimson Key Society that honors and recognizes the work of each House’s Housing Day music videos.
Intramurals Dodgeball Tournament
Now that you know your House, it’s time to bring the energy! Join Harvard Recreation for a high-energy intramural dodgeball tournament, a fun way to spark friendly competition, connect with your new community, and show off your House spirit. All students are welcome! The tournament will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 2PM in Lavietes Pavilion.
